ICPC Contest is Headed our Way
As of today, September 11, 2009, registration to be a part of an NIU ACM team at the ICPC has closed.
If you signed up, good for you! You should begin preparing with some practice problems, and expect to attend the tryouts Tuesday, September 22.
A little background on ICPC: Basically the way the contest works is you (as a member of a team of 3 people) are given a set of 8 logic/programming puzzles. Whichever team can solve the most problems in the shortest amount of time is the winner. The regional contest is Saturday, October 24th. The top teams from the regionals will then advance to the World Finals.
You must be an undergraduate and official member of the NIU ACM to participate. To become an official member you must fill out a registration form and pay the $5 membership fee. Contact us at niu.acm@gmail.com to get the ball rolling.

Tryouts will be held in the PM building the on Tuesday, September 22. Contestants must arrive with their team of 3 already decided, and ready to go. There will be no internet allowed during the tryouts, but books will be allowed. Teams are allowed to program in either C, C++, or Java. Faculty will be present to run and judge the event.
Good luck to everyone trying out! And if you have any questions, send them to us!
